ARIZONA PROPOSITION 144
Fast. Accurate.
Secure. Elections.
Vote YES on Proposition 144 — the FAST Elections Act — to guarantee every Arizona election is fast, accurate, secure, and transparent.
What Prop 144 Does
THE FAST, ELECTIONS ACT
Bans Foreign Money
Constitutionally bans foreign money from ever being spent to influence Arizona elections.
Citizens Decide Elections
Constitutionally guarantees that only U.S. citizens can register to vote, and that Arizona’s elections are decided solely by citizen voters.
Ensures Voter ID For Every Ballot Cast
Requires every voter, no matter which method they use to vote, to provide voter ID before casting their ballot. And then on this closes a loophole in Arizona's voter ID law, "that currently allows someone to show two non-ID documents, like a utility bill, instead of real government-issued identification.
Count Ballots Faster, With Confidence
Requires every county to give voters the option to have their early ballot tabulated on-site on Election Day — significantly speeding up election results, giving voters more convenient options, and giving Arizonans confidence that their ballot was counted with election night results.
One Consistent Legal Standard
Codifies the rational basis legal standard for reviewing election laws passed by voters or the Legislature, so future election rules are judged by a clear, consistent standard.
Why This Matters Now
COMMON SENSE TO ARIZONANS
Prop 144 incorporates some of the most broadly popular election reforms in the country, with support that crosses party lines:
82%
Citizens Deciding Our Elections
82% of voters say only U.S. citizens should vote in elections for President, Senate, and House, with majority support from Democrats, Independents, and Republicans alike (McLaughlin & Associates national poll, July 2026). Other national surveys have found support as high as 90% (CRC Research, October 2024).
84%
Voter ID For Every Ballot
84% of U.S. adults favor requiring photo ID to vote (Gallup, October 2024), with 83% in agreement in a separate August 2025 Pew Research Center survey.
80%
Banning Foreign Money In Our Elections
Nearly 80% of voters — including 84% of Democrats, 77% of Republicans, and 74% of Independents — support banning foreign entities from funding U.S. elections and ballot measures (Program for Public Consultation, University of Maryland).
63%
Faster, Same-Night Results
63% of likely voters want complete election results within 24 hours of polls closing (Rasmussen Reports, June 2026).
Proposition 144 enshrines broad, consensus-driven principles into Arizona’s Constitution.

Frequently Asked Questions
STRAIGHT ANSWERS
Does Arizona law already require you show ID?
Yes, Arizona law requires that people who vote in person show a government-issued ID. However, this is inconsistently applied. Currently, no voters who choose to vote by mail provide any type of ID to validate their ballots. Also, a loophole exists for in-person voters, in that they can show two documents that are not government-issued identification (such as a utility bill) in lieu of a proper ID. Prop 144 just ensures that in principle, providing a valid ID in order to voter, is the floor, regardless of who is voting or how they are voting.
Does Proposition 144 end mail-in or early voting?
Not at all. Arizonans can still request, receive, and return an early ballot exactly as they do today. What Prop 144 locks into the Constitution is a principle, not a process: every voter, no matter how they cast a ballot, verifies their identity with real ID before it counts. It doesn't freeze the technical details of how that gets implemented — that's left to policymakers, so the process can be adjusted and improved over time to work for every county and every voter, rather than locking in one rigid method today that can't adapt tomorrow.
Will on-site tabulation actually make election results faster?
Yes. Today, early ballots dropped on Election Day have to be collected and transported to a central counting location. Proposition 144 requires counties to give voters the option to have their early ballot tabulated right at the polling location on Election Day, so more ballots are counted and reported with election night results. Arizona's largest county, Maricopa County, provided this option to voters for the 2026 Primary Election. Not only was well-liked by voters, but it was lauded as a success in speeding up election results by election officials across the political spectrum.
Why does Prop 144 include a legal standard for election laws?
It’s the smallest piece of the measure, but it matters: Proposition 144 codifies the legal standard courts currently use when election laws passed by voters or the Legislature are challenged. That's a firewall against judicial chaos — it keeps one activist ruling from upending decades of settled Arizona election law all at once, from voter ID to how we count ballots.
